This week I’ve been pointing my telescope at a crab. Not the kind that nips your toes on the beach. I’m talking about the Crab Nebula – a huge cloud of dust that lies in the constellation of Taurus. The Crab Nebula was formed when a star exploded. This explosion, or supernova, was spotted by Chinese and Arab astronomers way back in 1054. At the centre of the Crab Nebula is the Crab Pulsar, a rotating neutron star. The star is much smaller than our sun but puts out about 100,000 times its energy.

I love words! My favourites are 'hemisphere' and 'slurp'. (Hemisphere means 'half a sphere'. The Earth is a sphere or globe and is divided into two halves - the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.) In this brill word game you test your spelling skills to the max. Youc an even try it in 6 different languages! How brainy is that?!
