Hello, boffins! Wij here! Science super-brain, SearchBuddy and ace inventor!
This week, I’ve been investigating the
Hubble Space Telescope. Hubble is a huge telescope (about the size of a school bus) and was sent into space to get up close and personal with our galaxy. On May 20th 1990, it sent back its first amazing pictures of star clusters and planets (I wish my WebbliScope was as powerful as Hubble!). It’s still sending back pictures, now, as it orbits the Earth at a mind-boggling 5 miles per second!
Find out where it is, now. Build your own hand-held Hubble.
And, now, Mr Bobbins' Joke Of The Day:
Why do aliens have trouble drinking tea?
Because of the flying saucers!
Email me at wij@webbliworld.com!
For fact-hungry Webblis like me! Check out loads of different sites in this easy-to-use search engine. And tell me what you think.
If you think space has an awful lot of, well, space in it, think again! Piloting your spaceship without hitting anything is harder than you think! The only irritating thing about Space Escape is that Mr Bobbins is better at it than I am. (Which is a bit annoying since he's a glove-puppet).
Ping pong is one of my favourite games! This virtual version is brill fun, too! And, it's trickier to keep the ball in play than you think!
I really like this game, it brings out the sportsman in me. (Stop sniggering, Wanda!) I'll have you know I'm already in training for the 2012 Webblimpics being held at WebbliStadium. And I'm hotly-tipped for a medal in the 500m gingernut-hurling-relay, a specialist event requiring pinpoint accuracy and precision-baking. And, while I'm on the subject, have you entered your favourite sports in your WebbliStak? Got any great sports games? Tell me about them and earn Webbles!
Tarmac was invented by John McAdam in the early 19th century and was originally known as tar-macadam. Knowing this will not help you play this game any better. But it will make you very brainy!
Find out how wind energy can turn on a lightbulb. This game is for smart Webblis like me who really want to know stuff. (If you need proof that my brain is enormous, just check out the size of my head.)
This game is addictive and tricky, too! Gyroball's got a mind of it's own - especially when I'm trying to control it!
I've always rather fancied being a surfer-dude. Trouble is, I can't surf. But, boy, can I pull some cool moves playing this game!
This game is WebbliTastic! (No wonder - it's got me in it!) Grab my solar-powered EcoZappa to turn the bad guys into good guys and save Bernie the Iceberg from going into mega meltdown mode! It's fast, it's fun and I think I look rather handsome, too. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if my lab-coat becomes this year's fashion must-have!
How cool is ice hockey?! (Well, it's several degrees cooler than football.)Get your skates on and play this brill game! And, don't forget to defend your goal.
There's nothing I like better than strapping myself to a bit of canvas and jumping off the edge of a cliff! A virtual cliff, that is! There are two levels, novice and expert, so you can build your skills. Brill fun and quite scary, too!
They may look like Smarties but there's nothing sweet about them! You know where you want to move them to but they just won't let you! This simple game is fast and fun. And once you start you won't be able to stop!
You don't have to be a brainbox like me to enjoy this site. There are tons of games to suit all levels. Even Wez could manage the easy ones!
Professor Chan must have a big brain like mine because he's invented a flying machine. But he needs you a smart dude like you to help him test it. Can you help him fly across the Great Wall of China? Chocks away!
This game is a bonkers combination of maths and surgery! Ward off the life-threatening bacteria by using your brain power.
Help! The flood waters are rising - the animals will surely drown. Unless you can save them, SuperWebbli! Water great game! Geddit?! (I know, I know, that joke's worse than one of Wanda's.)
I think space is ace! In fact, I have been known to moon-walk around my WebbliLab in ultra-slow-motion. If you love space, too, you'll love this site. It's packed with loads of info about the solar system, astronauts, rockets and stuff - for budding Apollo-pilots everywhere.
I love doing experiments! These are great and really simple, too! And they help you understand all sorts of stuff about rockets and how they work.
Now, here's a boffin if ever there was one! Ok, he's not a Webbli (and his head doesn't look that big, to be honest) but he knows tons of stuff about stuff - from Stonehenge to false teeth. Read his brill articles and you will soon be as clever as me (well, almost). And don't forget to tell me what you think of this site.
This site has been designed by seriously serious boffins with heads the size of Neptune. It's brainy, but brill, too! And, I know you Webblis are smart! So check it out and learn amazing stuff about the Earth. Nothing about Webblis - but, hey, no one's perfect.
I'm always looking to expand my brain power (although my head's so big now that buying hats is a bit of a problem). This site's got tons of stuff to power up your grey cells. And, you can play Slime Volleyball! We say 'yay!' to yukky games!
Mr Bobbins accidentally orbited Saturn for three weeks after one of my experiments went slightly wrong. But, the boffins on this site still know more about Saturn than he does! Learn about everything from black holes to quasars to comets! Out of this world!
Is Pluto a planet? What's a black hole? How fast does a comet travel through space? From Mars to meteors, Neptune to nebulas - this site's got it all! It'll send your brain into orbit!
Renewable energy is the way forward - we Webblis know that! And how much more renewable can you get than wind (and, no, I'm not referring to Wez's bottom burps). This site is great for boffins like me - I really liked building a wind turbine and finding out how all the different bits work. Do you think wind turbines are cool? Tell me.
Judging by your comments, I know lots of you want to save the planet. This fun site has tons of info to help you get to grips with carbon emissions, recycling and saving energy. And a whole stash of brill planet-friendly games! Webblis to the rescue!
Every year, 1 million computers end up in landfill sites in the UK, alone. Yikes! And, while we're lobbing them in the bin, we're slurping out of 15 million plastic bottles a day. Something's got to change! So, we say - Webblis Against Waste! Get on this site and get recycling, WebbliDudes!
Trains are mean, super-green, track-munching machines! Yes, it's true, my research has shown that travelling by train is better for the planet and it's much more fun than being stuck in a smoggy traffic-jam! This site tells you loads about trains of the future and trains of the past. There are games plus activities to do on your next train journey! Does pollution make you sick? Tell me about it. Got a fave train website? Tell me about it and, if I use it on my page, you could earn 1000 Webbles! All aboard!
Build a 3D virtual village and signal trains to go through the station! How WebbliCool is that? I love this site! Even Mr Bobbins has had a go. How about calling yours WebbliVillage? Or naming it after your Webbli?
Ok, who doesn't like diggers? No one, that's who! So, check out the chunky tyres and marvel at the size of these soil-grabbing megabeasts! You can post your fave digger photos and even race in a tractor grand prix. Vrooming marvellous! (Ouch - that joke's worse than one of Wanda's).
Abraca-dabra! Have I conjured up a mega magic site for you! Of course, magic is really a science - you just need to know how it works. This site lets you in on tons of magicians' secrets. I've been wowing Wez and Wanda with these brill magic tricks! Now, I just need to find out how to make Wez's smelly socks disappear!
More wicked magic tricks to impress your pals. Find out how to tie a knot in a chicken bone and how to walk through paper. Those long winter evenings will never be the same again!
